Delores W. Carey is a graduate of Northwestern Senior High School. She began her career in 1968 at Southern Bell as a Long Distance Operator. She later was promoted to Office Clerk handling payroll and other administrative duties.
As the name of the company changed to BellSouth, Ms. Carey was later promoted to management as Administrative Assistant in Public Affairs department reporting directly to the Vice President who worked closely with local legislatives. She was later transferred into the Network department where she supervised a team who dispatched technicians that handled the needs of the customers.
Ms. Carey remained in this position until December 31, 2009, when she retired with 41 years of service under the new company’s name AT&T.
As of 2018, Ms. Carey is now the Administrative Assistant of the Collective Empowerment Group of South Florida, Inc. (CEG) and Miami Youth Garden, Inc. (MYG). She works closely with both organizations assisting with various projects, preparing grants, and providing broad administrative support.
