Ana Prado

Advisor

Ana Prado is currently the Assistant Director of the Office of Global Learning Initiatives at Florida International University (FIU), running student programming for the department. She and her team work to mentor undergraduate students at the university, expanding their global learning opportunities and experiences.

Ana is also a Doctoral Candidate at FIU, pursuing a PhD in Teaching and Learning and teaches First Year Writing courses at FIU on the side. She has also worked as an Adjunct Instructor in English Departments at Barry University, and Northern Virginia Community College. Ana received both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master’s of Arts in English from Florida International University.  During her time in the Master’s program at FIU, she was a Teaching Assistant in various courses and worked with the Online Writing Lab.  After successfully completing her Master’s thesis, “Exploring the dark spaces and places of Sir Edmund Spenser’s The Faerie Queene”, Ana spent a decade teaching First Year Writing and Introductory Literature courses.

She is currently furthering her education in the Department of Teaching and Learning with a focus on Language, Literature, Literacy, and Culture. Ana’s research interests include language ideologies, linguistic hierarchies, equitable access to technology resources in education, and the value of multimodal teaching resources. She is currently planning a project to explore the languaging experiences of higher education students in Miami classrooms (and beyond).
